10 ‘JMB men’ charged with Hussaini Dalan blast
Dhaka: Police have pressed charges against 10 suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) before a court in a case filed over the bomb blast at Hussaini Dalan in old Dhaka last year.
Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police Shafi Uddin Sheikh submitted the chargesheet against the 10 JMB men with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The accused are Arman, Rubel Islam alias Sajib, Zahid Hasan alias Rana alias Musaab, Ahsanullah Mahmood, Kabir Hossain alias Rashed alias Ashik, Masud Rana, Abu Sayeed Solaiman alias Salman, Shahjalal, Omar Faruk alias Manik and Chan Miah.
All of them are now behind the bars.
According to the charge-sheet, Arman, Zahid, Rubel, and Kabir had confessed to their involvement in the blast before a court under section 164, saying they had planned the attack at a meeting on 10 October 2015.
Later, Ashik, Rubel, Masud, Hiron and Solaiman visited the spot and its nearby area on October 16, said the chargesheet.
Militants—Sayed alias Hiron alias Kamal, Albani alias Shahadat alias Mahfuz alias Hozza and Abdullah Baki alias Alauddin alias Noman—who were killed in gunfights in the capital and Masud were masterminds of the attack.
Masud along with his associates rented a house near the Hussaini Dalan according to the plan.
Two people were killed and 100 others injured in the bomb explosions at the Shia Muslim community’s headquarters, Hussaini Dalan, in the old part of Dhaka city on October 23 last year.
Sub-inspector of Chawlkbazar Police Station Jalal Uddin filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
