Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two suspected members of militant outfit Neo JMB, including a PWD engineer, carrying Tk 27.70 lakh in different parts of Dhaka on Thursday night.

The arrestees are Nafis Ahmed Nayan, in his twenties, and Hasibul Hasan, around 50 years.

Briefing reporters at the RAB’s new media centre in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar, director General (DG) of the force Benazir Ahmed said Nafis is a Hundi trader while Hasibul Hasan is an engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) in Rajshahi.

Tipped off, a team of the elite force arrested the duo conducting separate drives in Motijheel and Mohakhali areas in Dhaka and recovered Tk 27.70lakh in cash from their possessions, said the DG RAB.

They were arrested on charge of financing militant group Neo JMB, he said.
