17 fishermen held in Bhola for violating ban

Bhola: A joint team of coast guard and fisheries department arrested 17 fishermen from the Meghna river in Tulatuli area of Sadar upazila on Friday for fishing in river violating the ban on hilsa catching, reports UNB.
Asaduzzaman, senior fishery officer of Department of Fisheries of Bhola Sadar, said the joint team conducted drives in Kachia, Kathir Matha, Bholar Khal areas from the morning to noon and arrested them from two trawlers at Tulatuli point.
The team also seized 20kgs of hilsa, two trawlers and 10 thousand metres of current net.
The arrestees will be produced before a mobile court, said the official.
