13 DU admission seekers jailed for unfair means

Dhaka: A mobile court sentenced 13 admission seekers to two years’ imprisonment for using electronic devices during the 'Ka' unit admission test of Dhaka University on Friday, reports UNB.

The convicts are Imran Khan Sujon, Sabia Islam Nowrin, Al Imran, Akash Khandakar, Jahid Hasan, Tarik Chowdhury, Obony Roy, Mahmudul Hasan Tarek, Sadman Yasir, Al Amin, Ishtiaque Ahmed, Zulkarnain Nirjhar and Sanchita Rani.

The university authorities arrested the students from different centres during the examination.

Later, they were placed before the mobile court, led by Magistrate Rabindra Chakma, which jailed them for two years.

The DU ‘Ka’ unit admission test was held from 10:00am to 11:30am at 87 centres.

A total of 90,427 aspirants sat for the examination for admission to DU Faculty of Science consisting 1,785 seats.
