Dhaka: Awami League-backed mayoral candidate Annisul Haque, Syed Khokon and AZM Nasir Uddin won the mayoral posts of Dhaka North, Dhaka South and Chittagong city corporations in the polls held on Tuesday.

Their strong rivals BNP-endorsed Tabith Awal, Mirza Abbas, and M Manzur Alam boycotted the election bringing allegations of huge vote rigging on the Election Day.

The numbers of vote bagged by the mayoral candidates of three city corporations are given here:

Dhaka North City Corporation

There were around 1,093 polling stations under Dhaka North City Corporation. Around 23,44,900 voters exercised their franchises. The number of legal voters was 8, 41,000. About 8,74,581 voters cast their votes, which is 37.29%. Around 33,581 votes were cancelled.

Dhaka South City Corporation

There were around 18,70,778 voters at the South part of the city who were about to cast their votes at 889 polling stations. Voting was suspended at three polling stations. About 6,325 votes were under the postponed polling stations. Around 9,05,484 voters cast their votes and 48.40% of votes were casted. A total of 40,130 votes were cancelled.

The number of voters under Chittagong City Corporation was 18,13,600 who exercised their franchises in around 719 stations. A total of 8,21,371 voters casted 8,68,663 votes which is 47.89%. A total of 47,292 votes were cancelled.
