Dhaka: A construction worker died on Saturday night when a timber block fell on his head at a worksite in Dhaka’s Uttara.

The deceased is Monir Hossain, around 18 years old, a resident of village of Chardarbesh at Sonagazi upazila in Feni.

Monir’s cousin Selim said Monir was struck by a wooden plank when he came out of an under-construction building after his job at about 8:00pm at Uttara and was critically injured. He was taken to a local hospital immediately. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead at about 11:00pm.

DMCH police camp in-charge Sub-inspector Bacchu Mia said the body was kept at DMCH morgue.
