Transparency International Bangladesh has termed the rigging and corruption in three city corporation elections as embarrassing.

TIB in a press release quoting its executive director Iftekharuzzman on Wednesday said, ‘... elections to three city corporations are questionable, nationally and internationally embarrassing.’

It also urged all political parties to show respect to democratic practices.

Ifkharuzzaman expressed grave concern over the political turmoil that might follow the controversial election in which, he said, the role of the law enforcers are extremely questionable.

He also criticised Election Commission for failing to carry out its duties.

‘The EC is humiliating itself by resorting to lie and denial though there are plenty of reliable evidences of massive rigging in elections,’ said the TIB executive director.

Iftekharuazzman accused the commission of being politically biased.
