Depression in Bay likely to intensify further
Dhaka: The depression over east central bay was centred about 760kms south of Chittagong port, 670kms south of Cox’s Bazar port, 860 kms south-southeast of Mongla port and 780kms south-southeast of Payra port at 6:00am Sunday.
According to Met office bulletins, the depression over east central bay and adjoining area moved northeastwards further over the same area (near latitude 15.50 n and longitude 93.00e). It is likely to intensify further and move north-north-easterly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40kph rising to 50kph in gusts/squalls.
The sea will remain moderate near the depression centre, a marine warning issued by Bangladesh Metrological Department said.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one.
All fishing boats and trawllers over North Bay have been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
The Met office predicts rainfall activity is likely for the next 72 hours at places in the county.
Light rain/thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty wind, are also predicted to occur over Cox’s Bazar district and its adjoining area.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country. Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
