Awami League declares new committee

Dhaka: Awami League on Tuesday unveiled the names of 22 more members of its new central working committee secretaries, including eight organising secretaries.

Newly elected general secretary of the ruling party Obaidul Quader came up with the disclosure at a press briefing at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmandi political office, reports UNB.

On the last day of its 20th council on October 23, Awami League announced the names of 16 presidium members, four joint general secretaries and one treasurer of its new central committee.

The eight organising secretaries are Ahmed Hossain, Misbah Uddin Siraj, BM Mozammel Haque, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Enamul Haque Shamim and Barrister Mahbiul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel.

Of the 14 other secretaries, Tipu Munshi was made finance secretary, while Sujit Roy Nandi social welfare secretary, Mrinal Kanti Das, liberation war affairs secretary, Shamsunnahar Chapa education and human resource affairs secretary, Asim Kumar Ukil cultural affairs secretary, Rokeya Sultana health and population affairs secretary, Abdul Matin Khasru legal affairs secretary, Afzal Hossain information and research secretary, Abdus Sobhan Golap office secretary, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah religious affairs secretary, Dr Hasan Mahmud publication and publicity secretary, Fazilatunnesa Indira women affairs secretary, Abdus Sattar commerce and industries secretary and Habibur Rahman Siraj labour and manpower affairs secretary.

Besides, Awami League is scheduled to hold its presidium meeting at Ganabhaban on 28 October with party President Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
