Dhaka: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised by the met office to keep hoisted distant warning signal no. 2 as cyclonic storm ‘Kyant’ has moved slightly westwards over the central Nay and adjoining.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the cast and proceed with caution till further notice.

It was cantering at about 12:00am on Wednesday about 610km south-southwest of Chittagong port, 540km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 610km south of Mongla port and 555km south of Payra port, said a Met office special bulletin.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a westerly direction.

The maximum sustained wind speed within 54 km of the cyclone centre is about 62kph, rising to 88kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the storm centre.
