Dhaka: Detectives in a drive arrested six alleged members of a fake currency syndicate carrying Tk 66lakh counterfeit currency notes from different parts of Dhaka on Tuesday night.

Identities of the arrestees could not be known yet.

Tipped off, the Detective Branch (DB) of police launched a drive in different parts of the city and arrested the six at night, said Deputy Commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman.

The law enforcers also recovered fake currency notes worth Tk 66lakh from their possession.

Details of the arrest will be informed at a press briefing later, he added.
