Saiful to be quizzed over Dinajpur minor girl rape
Dinajpur: A Dhaka court on Thursday placed the prime accused Saiful Islam on a seven day interrogation in a case filed over violating a five-year old girl in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Krishna Komol Roy passed the order after sub-inspector Swapon Kumar Chowdhury, also investigation officer of the case, produced the accused, Saiful Islam, 42, before the court seeking a seven-day remand.
SI Swapan said Saiful gave them some information during primary interrogation and more information will be found during the remand. He said they are trying to arrest the other accused.
A team of Parbatipur Model Police Station arrested the alleged rapist, Saiful Islam, a neighbour of the girl, of Parbatipur's Jamirhat village, in Dinajpur town on Monday night.
On October 18, the girl went missing while she was playing near her home in Jamirhat village in Parbatipur upazila.
The girl’s father lodged a general diary (GD) with Parbatipur Police Station at night as she did not return home till evening on the day.
Next morning, villagers found her lying bloodied and unconscious on a field in the same village.
She was first taken to a local hospital and later moved to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) from where she was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as her condition deteriorated.
On October 20, the rickshaw-puller father filed a case against Saiful and Afzal Hossain Kabiraj, 48, with Parbatipur Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Meanwhile, the DMCH authorities formed a nine-member medical team for her better treatment.
