One held for screening pirated copy of ‘Aynabaji’
Dhaka: The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday arrested a internet service provider for uploading the pirated copy of Aynabaji, a film by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, for screening it illegally.
A team of Cyber Security and Crime Control Division of the CTTC unit carried out a drive at Badda on Wednesday night and arrested Atikur Rahman Avi, 28.
Briefing reporters at DMP media centre on Thursday, deputy commissioner (media) of DMP Masudur Rahman said the CTTC started investigation after getting complaints regarding piracy of Aynabaji.
Tipped off, the CTTC team arrested Avi, one of the owners of Badda Net Zone, a broadband internet connection provider at Badd, the DC (Media) said.
He was arrested on charge of uploading pirated copy of Aynabaji to a personal server and illegally screening it via the internet, he said.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Social Media Monitoring Team under the CTTC Md Nazmul Islam said arrested Avi used to give scope to download new and old films to his subscribers.
Aynabaji was formally released on September 30 in a number of movie houses across the country, including Dhaka city.
