Dhaka University authorities detained eight admission seekers on Friday for using means of plagiarism during the admission test of Gha unit (social science faculty).

The entry test of Gha unit held in 99 centres inside and outside the campus from at about 10:00am to 11:00am.

Dhaka University Proctor Amzad Ali the students were held with high-tech gadgets and smart phones which were not permitted to be used inside the examination hall. The students were exchanging answers through mobile applications, WhatsApp and Imo.

Among them, four aspirants each were detained from Nilkhet High School, Wills Little Flower School and College, Shidweshhary Girls’ School, Mohammad Girls School, and four others, two each were detained, from Curzon Hall, and Mohammadpur Central College.

The proctor said the detainees have been kept at his office. Legal action would be taken against them later.

A total of 1,09,170 admission seekers vied for the test against 1,540 seats to get admission in different disciplines under the unit.
