CU BCL leader hacked by rival group
Chittagong: A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Chittagong University (CU) unit was hacked allegedly by the activists of rival faction on Saturday night.
Witnesses said a gang of around nine masked men hacked Taiful Haque Topu, assistant president of CU Chhatra League, with sharp weapons when he was talking some of his friends before Rab Hall at about 9:00pm.
Topu was taken to the university’s hospital in critical condition. Later, he was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
However, a faction of BCL said the activists of a rival group attacked on Topu following a Tk 75crore-tender for the extension of university’s arts building.
The university authorities said they are trying to identify the attackers.
Panic spread all around the campus following the incident. Additional security measures have been taken on the campus to avert further untoward incident.
