Dhaka: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested the accounts officer of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) in a graft case.

ACC deputy director of its head office Shamsul Alam arrested GCC accounts officer Golam Kibria from the corporation premises in Gazipur, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.

On 13 June 2016, the ACC filed a case against him and others with Joydebpur (Gazipur) Police Station for allegedly misappropriating about Tk 50 crore of the corporation’s relief and poverty fund.

According to the case statement, GCC suspended mayor MA Mannan along with Golam Kibria and others swindled the money from the city corporation, preparing fake vouchers of relief and donation to 999 individuals and institutions.
