Chittagong: Criminals looted gold ornaments and valuables from a family temple at Chowdhury Hat in Hathazari upazila early Tuesday after vandalising idols of Hindu goddesses Durga and Kali, reports UNB.

Quoting temple priest Dulal Dey, sub-inspector of Hathazari Police Station Komol Dey said the criminals damaged hands of Durga and Kali at ‘Doshom Mohabidyaya Matri Mandir’, family temple of Bijoy Krishna Sarker, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when Dulal went to the temple, said the SI.

The culprits also looted some gold ornaments and valuables from the temple.

Contacted, general secretary of Hathazari upazila Puja Udjapon Committee Rimon Muhuri said the miscreants might have damaged the idols to steal the gold ornaments.
