Dhaka: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif’s vehicle came under attack during a demonstration at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka on Friday against the attacks on the Hindu community in Brahmanbaria and Habiganj.

Witnesses said Dhaka University students arranged a rally at the intersection at noon blocking roads.

They intercepted Hanif’s vehicle when it reached the intersection while the ruling party leader was returning after attending a programme at the RC Majumdar auditorium of Dhaka University.

As the vehicle driver continued to drive forward, the agitated students threw brick chips at the vehicle, damaging its view mirror and glass.

Later, the ruling party leader got down from the vehicle and expressed his solidarity with the students.
