Dhaka: Abdur Rauf Daud Merchant, an Indian goon and an associate of mafia don Daud Ibrahim, was released from Dhaka Central Jail, Keraniganj.

Jail Super Jahangir Kabir said Daud Merchant walked out of the jail around 4:30pm on Sunday.

On November 3, Judge of the Metropolitan Magistrate Court AKM Moin Uddin exempted Daud Merchant from the charges under section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Dubai-based Indian mafia lord Daud Merchant had been in Bangladesh prison for five years after he trespassed into the country in 2009.

He was rearrested from outside Gazipur's Kashimpur Jail as soon as he was released on bail on December 2, 2014. 

Daud Merchant was a convicted accused for the murder of Indian music magnate Gulshan Kumar.
