PM goes to Tungipara today
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will go to Tungipara in Goplaganj on Tuesday to pay homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
It would be the prime minister’s maiden visit to Tungipara, the ancestral home of Bangabandhu, after her re-election as the Awami League president.
Leaders of the newly-elected Awami League (AL) Advisory Council and AL Central Working Committee (ALCWC) will join her in paying tributes to the Father of the Nation.
Officials said Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for Tungipara by an Air Force helicopter on Tuesday morning.
After her arrival at Tungipara Upazila Complex Helipad, the premier will straight go to the Mausoleum of Bangabandhu and pay tributes to the great leader by placing floral wreaths there.
She will later offer Fateha and join a special munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage.
The Awami League president will chair a joint meeting of AL Advisory Council and ALCWC to be held at about 2:00pm in Tungipara.
Sheikh Hasina was reflected president of Awami League unanimously in the 20th national council of the party on 22-23 October while Obaidul Quader elected as its new general secretary.
