BNP reschedules rally for 13 November
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has rescheduled its 8 November rally for 13 November marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
‘The government has violated the constitutions by denying us permission for holding the rally. We again call upon the government to allow us holding the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on 13 November. We will send an application today in this regard,’ said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He came up with the announcement at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapalton Central Office.
Fakhrul said they have repeatedly been rescheduling their rally and seeking fresh permission for the programme as they believe in democracy.
‘Don’t violate the constitution and allow us holding our rally,’ he said.
Earlier, BNP sought permission for holding a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan either on 7 or 8 November marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
Later, the party also sought permission for holding the rally at Naya Paltan on Tuesday (8 November) as police did not allow them stage the programme at Suhrawardy Udyan.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman told reporters in the morning Tuesday that police have already given permission to BNP to hold the rally in the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
