Kushtia: A couple was injured as a group of miscreants hacked them at their house in Housing Area of Kushtia town early on Wednesday.

The victims are Ali Isa, in his fifties, an Associate Professor of Kushtia Government College, and his wife Samsunnahar Khanam, in her forties, a lecturer of KSM College in Kushtia.

The Kushtia Superintendent of police Proloy Chisim said a group around five miscreants stormed into the house of the couple breaking open the door at about 3:30am.

Later, the hoodlums indiscriminately hacked Ali Isa and his wife with sharp weapons, leaving the duo injured.

However, the miscreants fled the scene as the neighbours rushed to the spot hearing the screams of the couple.

The injured were taken to Kushtia General Hospital.

The reason behind the attack could not be known, the SP said.
