BNP slams delay in permission for its Suhrawardy Udyan rally
Dhaka: BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday said the government will completely lose its democratic character if it again takes time in permitting their party to hold its rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 13.
‘We sought permission for holding a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 13 marking the national revolution and solidarity day. If they kill time again in giving us the permission for the rally, it’ll prove that the government has no democratic character,’ he said.
He came up with the remark while speaking at a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club arranged by Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, marking November 7 as the ‘national revolution and solidarity day’, reports UNB.
Mosharraf, a BNP standing committee member, termed absurd the permission given to BNP to hold a discussion instead of a rally at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh with 27 conditions.
He alleged that Awami League-led government does not want to allow BNP to hold its rally as it fears November 7 and Ziaur Rahman.
The BNP leader also alleged that government is distorting the history of 7 November 1975 by providing confusing information about it to mislead the young generation.
He called upon all to get united to restore democracy and people’s all rights and protect the country’s independence and sovereignty.
