‘Mastermind’ of former army official killing held
Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) claimed to have arrested Abdul Ahad, the alleged mastermind of Brigadier General (Retd) Wazi Ahmed Chowdhury killing, in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.
RAB media wing Assistant Director AST Mizanur Rahman told NTV Online RAB 4 members detained Abdul Ahad in Pallabi area of Mirpur in Dhaka at about 7:45pm.
Details about the arrest briefed in a press conference at RAB media centre in Karwanbazar’s BSIC building at about 11:00am.
RAB 4 Commanding officer Lutful Kabir during the press briefing said Abdul Ahad used to work as a caretaker in Wazi Ahmed Chowdhury’s residence. Wazi Ahmed denied to pay Ahad’s dues as he wanted to quit from the job following a dispute with Wazi Ahmed’s son.
Later, Abdul Ahad strangulated Wazi Ahmed to death and left his house after looting Tk 4,000, and a laptop.
Ahad went into hiding immediately after the killing, said RAB.
The RAB official said Ahad also confessed his involvement in the murder during primary interrogation.
Earlier, on 5 October, body of the retired army official Wazi Ahmed Chowdhury was recovered from his Mohakhali DOHS residence.
A case was filed in this connection.
