12 more public toilets in 3 months, says Annisul
Dhaka: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq on Thursday said 12 more modern public toilets will be built at several points across the city within next three months, aiming to make the city a clean one.
The DNCC Mayor came up with the announcement while inaugurating a modern public toilet adjacent to Islamia Eye Hospital in the city’s Farmgate.
H&M Foundation, in association with Water Aid Bangladesh, constructed the public toilet under the supervision of the DNCC, raising the number of public toilets to nine in the city.
Earlier, two more public toilets -- one at Mohakhali and another inside Shyamoli Shishu Park -- were opened for public on Thursday.
The DNCC authority took a plan to construct more than 100 modern public toilets across the city, said Annisul adding, “We can’t build those due to the scarcity of adequate space.”
The mayor urged the stakeholders to come forward to give spaces for setting up modern public toilets around the city.
Modern public toilets are being constructed at important places throughout the city keeping various modern facilities including separate rooms for male, female and disabled people, locker, washing basins, and pure drinking water.
