Dhaka: US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat on Sunday said restoring the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) for Bangladeshi products in the US market largely depends on further strengthening workers’ rights as guaranteed in Bangladesh’s law and international standards.

She also said the U.S. remains committed to helping the RMG sector and the Government of Bangladesh achieve the GSP.

The US Ambassador conveyed the US position through separate tweets on the issue.

Bangladesh has long been pressing the US government for restoration of the special trade benefits as it claims most of the conditions set by the US Administration are already met.
