Police to quiz prime accused Rubel in Garo woman rape case
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted police six days to quiz Rafsan Hossain Rubel, the prime accused in a case filed for gang-raping a Garo woman in the city’s Badda area.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sabbir Yeasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order when the officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, placed him before the court seeking 10 days for quizzing him, reports UNB.
Earlier in the day, a team of Badda Police Station rearrested the accused, Rubel, son of Mafij Uddin Miah of Mistritala, Hasan Uddin Road of Uttar Badda, from in front of Suvastu Tower in the morning, three days after his escape from the police custody.
RAB members arrested Rubel, the prime accused of the gang rape of the indigenous woman, from the Airport Railway Station area of the capital on November 11.
When sub-inspector Imran and constable Dipak Chandra of Badda Police Station took Rubel to Dhaka court for recoding his confessional statement, he escaped from their custody on that day.
The Garo woman, a resident of Khilkhet area in the capital who used to work at a beauty parlour, was gang-raped on October 26 last by four youths while returning home from her workplace.
Later, she filed a complaint with the police station on October 28.
