Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent the two injured Santal men to jail in a case filed for attacking police during a clash with the law enforcers and workers of Rangpur Sugar Mill in Gobindaganj upazila on November 6.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Taskinul Hoque sent Bimal Kislu and Charan Soren to jail rejecting their bail petitions after police produced the two indigenous men to the court in the afternoon, reports UNB.
Meanwhile, two Santal families sent a legal notice to the authorities concerned to explain under what authority the eviction drive, attack and looting were carried out on the Santal community at Bagda Farm in Gobindaganj upazila on November 6.
The notice also wanted to know what measures were taken against the killers.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Jotirmoy Barua sent the legal notice on behalf of Olivia Hambhrom, wife of Dijen Todu, and Rumila Kisku, wife of Gonesh Murmo.

Following the incident, police arrested four injured Santal men, including Bimal and Charan, from the spot and admitted them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital under police custody.
On the other hand, another Santal man, who was also injured during the clash, succumbed to his injuries at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital on November 7 while police recovered the body of another Santal man from the spot on the same day.
