Nasirnagar upazila vice‑chairman’s cowshed burnt down
Brahmanbaria: In a fresh incident of arson attack, the cowshed of Nasirnagar upazila vice-chairman Anjan Kumar Dey was burnt down in the upazila town on Wednesday evening.
Anjan Kumar said that a gang of unidentified arsonists set fire to the cowshed at about 6:30pm when he was away from home.
Noticing the leaping flame, neighbours rushed in and doused it, he said.
However, there were no cattle in the cowshed during the arson attack and no one was also injured in the incident either.
On information, upazila parishad chairman ATM Moniruzzaman Sarkar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Liakat Ali and officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar Police Station M Abu Jafar visited the spot.
On October 30, a group of religious zealots carried out a synchronised attack on Hindu people, vandalising around 100 homes and temples and looting their valuables, including cash, gold ornaments and idols, television and mobile phones. The two-hour mayhem reportedly followed a Facebook post from the account of a local fisherman, ‘hurting the religious sentiment’ of Muslims.
Unidentified miscreants set fire to at least six houses of Hindus, including the house of Anjan Kummar, at different villages in Nasirnagar upazila on November 5 and torched another Hindu house at Changapur village in the same upazila on November 13 amid huge outcry following the previous attack on Hindu people.
