Dhaka: An elderly woman was found with her throat slit in the Pallabi area of Dhaka in the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased is Sharifunnesa, in her seventies.

The Pallabi police Officer-in-charge Dadan Fakir said police recovered the body from the third floor of a six-story building near the Rabbani Hotel at Jhutpatti area under Pallabi police station early on Thursday.

Police also detained security guard of the building, Raqib, for interrogation.

Primarily it has been believed that Sharifunnesa was killed in between 11:30pm to 12:00am. However, the killers could not be traced yet, and reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, said the police officer.

The OC said the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
