Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home from Morocco on Thursday morning after wrapping up her three-day official visit to the North African country to attend the high-level segments of the 22nd Conference of the Parties (COP-22) also known as the global climate summit.

A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and her entourage members landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 8:15am.

Ministers, advisers to the prime minister and high civil and military officials were present at the airport to receive the prime minister.

The three-day high-level segments of COP-22 of the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) were held in Morocco’s former imperial city of Marrakech from 15-17 Nov. Heads of state and government from 80 countries including Bangladesh and senior ministers from 115 countries took part in the COP-22.

The Bangladesh premier joined the inaugural session of the conference along with other heads of state and government on 15 November.

Sheikh Hasina delivered her statement at the high-level segments of COP-22 on the opening day of the summit highlighting Bangladesh’s position to address the climate challenges and calling for global efforts to address the issue of climate-induced migrants to make the objectives of SDGs successful.

Along with other heads of state and government, she joined a lunch hosted by Morocco King Mohammed VI.

The prime minister led a 58-member Bangladesh delegation at the conference that included Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, Water Resources Minister Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud and Deputy Minister for Environment and Forests Abdullah Al Islam Jacob.
