Dhaka: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday caught a land official in Dhaka district red-handed while taking bribe.

An eight-member ACC team, led by its director Nasim Anwar, arrested surveyor of South Keraniganj land office Mosharraf Hossain from his office, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.

Md Alamgir Hossain, a villager, recently went to the local land office for mutation of a land, but Mosharraf has long been harassing him demanding bribe for his job. Earlier, he even realised Tk 7,000 in two installments.

Later, he demanded Tk 5,000 again to do so. The victim then submitted a written compliant against the land surveyor with the Commission.

In consultation with the ACC officials, the plaintiff went to the land office again on Thursday afternoon to give Mosharraf Tk 5,000 in bribe. While receiving the money, the ACC team caught him red-handed.

Later in the day, ACC deputy assistant director Md Nazimuddin of its Dhaka zila office-1 filed a case against the land official with South Keraniganj Police Station in connection with the incident.
