Man sent to jail for life for killing wife in Ctg
Chittagong: A Chittagong court on Thursday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 1994.
The convict is Saber Ali of Panchlaish area in the port city. He was tried in absentia.
The court also fined the convict Tk 10,000. He will have to serve jail term for another year if he fails to pay the fine.
According to the prosecution, Saber Ali strangulated to death his first wife, Arju Begum, over a family feud at a house in Hill View Residential area of the port city on 1 October, 1994.
Saber went into hiding after the incident. A case was then filed with Panchlaish Police Station.
Police submitted chargesheet against Saber Ali on 12 October, 1995.
After examining records and 10 witnesses, Chittagong Special Judge Mir Ruhul Amin handed down the verdict.
