Dhaka: The Shahbagh police detained a member of police for extorting money at Shahbagh police station area in Dhaka on Thursday night.

The detainee is Mohammad Latifuzzaman.

The Shahbagh Police Officer-in-charge Mohammad Abu Bakar Sidiqque said Latifuzzaman was held over extortion. He was taken for interrogation. Details about the arrest will be briefed later.

However, the OC did not mention the posting and designation of the detainee.

The Ramna Zone Assistant Commissioner (AC) Ehsanul Ferdous confirmed the arrest but could not tell the position of the detained police member.
