HC orders to arrest Shahnur’s attackers in 72hrs
The High Court on Tuesday issued a suo moto rule to arrest within 72-hour the criminals in connection with the attack on Shahnur Biswas for protesting the stalking of his daughter in Jhenaidah.
A HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the suo moto order following a report published in vernacular daily ‘Prothom Alo’ on Tuesday.
The HC also ordered the authorities concerned to submit the progress report in this regard by November 27.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jhenaidah and Officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station were made respondents to the order.
Earlier on October 16, a gang of stalkers attacked Shahnur Biswas, a resident of Naldanga village of the upazila, as he protested their stalking of his daughter.
The stalkers beat him indiscriminately, leaving his seriously injured.
Shahanur underwent amputation of both of his legs and he is now undergoing treatment at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in the capital.
A case was filed with the Kaliganj Police Station in this connection.
The stalkers are also reportedly threatening the victim’s family to withdraw the case, according to ‘Prothom Alo’.
