Chittagong: Bangladesh Chhatra League central leader Irfan Chowdhury Diaz who was found hanged at his residence in Hathazari of Chittagong had committed suicide, according to autopsy report.

Rezaul Masud, additional police super of the Chittagong Special Branch, said police received the autopsy report of Diaz on Wednesday noon which clearly mentioned that joint general secretary of the central BCL committee took his own life by hanging himself.  

The autopsy was conducted by a professor and two assistant professor of the Forensic Department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital who found the evidence of suicide, he said.

Meanwhile, Diaz’s family members rejected the autopsy report.  

BCL leader’s elder sister Advocate Jubaida Sarwar Nipa claimed that Diaz was murdered in a planned way. She also sought inference of higher authorities in this regard.

On November 20, Diaz was found hanged at his rented residence in Chittagong University gate-2 area.
