Dhaka: Three people, including a college student, were killed in two road accidents in Dhaka city’s Jatrabari and Tikatoli areas on Friday.

The victims are Amir Hossain Apu, 18, a student of Dhanmondi Ideal College, Mantu Miah, 40, a hawker, and Rina Akhter, 28.

Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital said a ‘Turag Paribahan’ bus ploughed through the footpath and crashed into Apu and Mantu at Dhalpur of Jatrabari at about 5:30pm after its driver lost control over the steering, killing them on the spot.

Apu was buying food from Mantu’s footpath shop when the accident took place. 

In another accident, a bus hit a rickshaw carrying Rina in front of ‘Ovisar Movie House’ at Tikatoli in the evening, leaving her injured.

She was taken to the DMCH where doctors declared her dead.
