Khaleda Zia to appear before court today
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia will appear before court on Thursday in Zia Charitable Trust graft cases, said her counsel Advocate Sanaullah Mia.
Khaleda Zia will appear before the court of Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Dhaka’s Special Judge’s Court-3, set up at the playground of Govt Alia Madrasah in Dhaka’s Bakshibazar.
BNP chief’s office media wing official Shairul Kabir Khan said Khaleda Zia will appear before the court at about 11:00am.
Earlier, on 10 November, Khaleda Zia’s lawyers filed a petition seeking two weeks for presenting self-defensing statement before the court. Later, the court fixed 24 November 24 for hearing the statement of BNP chief in her self-defense.
Besides, the court also fixed 17 November for cross-examining the investigation officer (IO) of the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case
On 8 August 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, for abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
On 16 January 2012, Harun-or-Rashid, investigation officer of the case, submitted chargesheet putting the names of four people in the case.
