Over 2lakh Yaba pills recovered, 15 held in Cox’s Bazar
Cox’s Bazar: The members of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) and Coast Guard recovered around two lakh 2,000 pieces of Yaba in separate drives in several places of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday night.
The Coast Guard members also held 15 suspected Yaba smugglers during the raids.
Identities of the detainees could not be known immediately. The Teknaf station Coast Guard members said all of the arrestees are residents of different upazilas of Cox’s Bazar including Maheshkhali.
Coast Guard members also seized two trawlers used for trafficking Yaba pills.
The Teknaf station Coast Guard Commander Lieutenant Commander Nafiur Rahman said the coast guard members found a suspicious fishing trawler near the Chhera Island in Saint Martin on Thursday night. Later, the Coast Guard members chased the trawler, and the smugglers fled from the spot leaving the trawler.
Coast Guard recovered 1lakh Yaba tablets from the trawler.
The Coast Guard recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets from a trawler and held 15 suspected Yaba smugglers from a trawler near the Chhera Island.
However, BGB members recovered 70,000 Yaba pills in two separate drives conducted in Teknaf.
During the drives, the BGB members recovered 20,000 Yaba tablets from Swiss gate point and 50,000 of Yaba pills from Keruntali point.
