Gazipur: Two people were injured in a fire which broke out at a knitwear factory at Nayanpur in Shreepur upazila on Friday.

Station officer of Shreepur Fire Service M Jihad said the fire broke out at the godown of Confidence Limited, on the ground floor of the three-storey building in the area around 6pm, and soon it engulfed the entire storehouse.

On information, three fire-fighting units from Shreepur and Bhaluka rushed in and doused the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts with the help of local people and factory workers, he said.

Two workers were injured while they were extinguishing the flame. They were given first aid from a local clinic.

It was not still clear what caused the fire.
