Dhaka: A young man was burnt to death as a house in a slum in Shahjahanpur area of the capital city caught on early Saturday.

The deceased is Shipon, believed to be thirty.

Fire Service and Civil Defence control room duty officer Atikul Islam said the fire broke out at the house at about 3:57am.

On information, two firefighting units wne to the spot and brought the fire under control at about 4:20am, reports UNB.

Later, the firefighters recovered the charred body of Shipon from the house, said Shahjahanpur Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Mabud.

The fire also burned down a part of a furniture shop adjacent to the house, added the OC.
