Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday formally received the award given by ITU Telecom World to Bangladesh for its Bangabandhu Satellite Project.

State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim on Monday handed over the award to the Prime Minister at the beginning of the weekly cabinet meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Tarana, who represented Bangladesh in the ITU Telecom World held in Bangkok from November 13-17, 2016, received the award on behalf of the government.  

Bangladesh, for the first time, joined the exhibition of the Telecom World and projected its overall success in the telecommunications and information technology and other social sectors before the world.
