SC again asks ministry to locate ICT
Dhaka: The Supreme Court authorities have once again sent a letter to the Law Ministry asking it to relocate the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) from the old High Court building.
The letter signed by HC Division Registrar Abu Syed Diljar Hossain on behalf of the Chief Justice sent the letter to the Law and Justice Division Secretary on December 4.
Citing accommodation problem, the letter asked the authorities concerned to relocate the ICT from the old High Court building by January 31.
Earlier on August 23 last, the SC sent a letter to the ministry asking it to relocate the ICT set up at the old HC building in March 2010 for the trial of war criminals.
However, on October 30, the Law Ministry urged the Supreme Court to reconsider its request to relocate the International Crimes Tribunal from the old High Court building.
“If the tribunal is relocated to another place, it’ll create resentment among people and create hindrance to the continuation of the country’s development,” the letter had read, urging the apex court to reconsider the request.
