SC proposes barring weighing scale as electoral symbol
Dhaka: Weighing scale, which is being used as the monogram of the Supreme Court, cannot be used as an electoral symbol by any political parties, decided apex court.
A full court meeting led by Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha made the decision on Monday afternoon. Judges of High Court and Appellate Division were present during the meeting.
The SC will submit the proposal to Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday.
High Court division additional registrar (Justice and Administration) Sabbir Foyez said the apex court will sent letter to EC asking the political parties for not using weighing scale as electoral symbols.
Weighing scale is used as the electoral symbol of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
