Dhaka: A woman and her uncle-in-law were stabbed to death in a residence at Pallabi in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were Sweety Begum, who is reportedly in her early twenties, wife of DESCO engineer (Uttara Division) Jahed Hasan, and Jahed’s uncle Aminul Islam who is around 40 years of age.

According to the family members, two unidentified man, who came in a motorbike, entered the flat on the 5^th floor of a building at about 3:15pm and stabbed the two indiscriminately, leaving them dead on the spot.

Sweety’s 5-year old son, Saad, escaped the slayers by hiding in toilet, said locals.

Hearing the screams of neighbours rushed in and found the duo lying in a pool of blood.

The double murder took place at a time when Jahed was not at home, said Pallabi police officer-in-charge Ziauzzaman.

Apart from collecting evidences from the scene, law enforcers held two security guards of the house, Abdul Khaleque and Shahin, for interrogation.

Although the motives behind the murder were unknown, police suspected the murder might have link with business disputes.
