Bhola-Lakshmipur ferry services halted
Bhola: Ferry services in Bhola-Lakshmipur route remained suspended for the last two days due to the collapse of ‘ram plate’ at Moujuchowdhury ferry terminal, causing immense sufferings to the passengers.
Local people said the ‘ram plate’ of a ferry terminal fell apart when an overloaded truck tried to cross it while boarding on a ferry on Wednesday, suspending ferry services in the route.
Abu Alam Hawladar, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport and Corporation’s (BIWTC’s) at Moujuchowdhury terminal office, said an alternative ram would be set up at the ferry terminal on Thursday morning and it will take some time to resume the services.
Several hundred vehicles including passenger buses have been waiting on both sides of the ferry route, causing immense sufferings to the commuters.
