2 hurt in Chittagong ‘gunfight’

Chittagong: Two suspected robbers were injured in a gunfight between their cohorts and police at Mohra in Chandgaon area of Chittagong early on Thursday.
The identities of the victims could not be known yet.
Police said suspecting the movement of a private car, a patrol team of police signalled the vehicle to stop in the area at about 4:30am.
As the vehicle did not stop with the signal, the police members gave it a chase.
In their bid to escape, the alleged robbers of the private car opened fire at the law enforcer, prompting a retaliation that triggered a gunfight, said Kajal Barua, assistant commissioner (media) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
At one point, the car stopped and the cops arrested the duo with bullet injuries.
Assistant sub-inspector Ratan Datta of the patrol team was injured as the private car hit his motorcycle while trying to flee the scene.
Police also seized the vehicle and recovered two firearms from there.
