At least six people were killed and six injured as a bus collided head-on with a human hauler, locally known as Leguna, on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway under Gazipur district on early Saturday.

The accident occurred at about 7:45am near Itahata area of Gazipur.

Naojor Highway Police Sub-inspector Md. Emran Hossain said, a Tangail-bound bus from Gazipur intersection area smashed a Leguna at Itahata area as the human hauler was heading towards the intersection from Konabari area.

One passenger of the human hauler died on the spot. The injured passengers were taken to Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared five more dead.

All the injured passengers were in critical condition.

The identities of the victims were not found immediately.
