Dhaka: A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader sustained bullet injuries as a group of miscreants shot him in front of Banbeis office at Sonargaon Road in Dhaka early on Sunday.

The injured BCL leader is Jubayer Ahmed, vice president of Dhaka University (DU) unit of BCL.

Quoting witnesses, sub-inspector Debraj of Shahbagh Police said Juber, along with his two friends, was returning to DU campus from Palashi intersection riding a bike in the night.

When they were passing by Banbeis office in the area, a private car waylaid the motorcycle at about 1am.

Later, the miscreants shot Jubayer at the thigh, leaving him seriously injured.

Jubayer was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the SI added.
