Chittagong: A couple was burnt to death as a fire broke out at their house at Janalibali in Bakalia area of Chittagong early on Sunday.

The deceased is Sayed Ahmad, and his wife Rina Akter.

Chittagong fire service control room official said the fire broke out at the house of one Saleh Ahmad at about 3:50am and it soon engulfed three houses.

On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze.

Sayed Ahmad and Rina suffered serious burn injuries and were taken to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where doctors declared them dead at about 5.00am.

CMCH police camp’s Nayek Hamid confirmed the deaths.

The reason behind the fire could not be confirmed.
